"The Night Circus"~What's This About It Being The "New Harry Potter?"

Posted on 14:07 by john mycal

I just received my copy of "The Night Circus," and I'm worried I'm the last to get it, and by the time I force myself to read it, I'll also be the last to review it.  Is it really the "new Harry Potter" as some are calling it?

If it's true about the Harry Potter reference, I'm shell-shocked.  I had trouble enough starting that series!  Once I did, I was so enamored of it that I became obsessive.  I still haven't read the end of "...Deathly Hallows."  I can't bring myself to allow it all to end.  I've even refused to see the movie, yet.  See what a die hard I-don't-know-what I am about Harry and troupe?

Now comes this "..Night Circus" and I'm worried the same thing will happen to me.  Plus, I don't want to be the last one to review it.

Help me out, here.  Do you really think it's the new....?  Because if it is, I'm in serious trouble.

"Tempted" by Elisabeth Naughton~ The New J.R. Ward?

Posted on 16:13 by john mycal
Published by:  Sourcebooks
Eternal Guardians Book 3
Available:  Amazon and Barnes & Noble
among other places

BOOK SUMMARY:
DEMETRIUS—He’s the hulking, brooding warrior his fellow Guardians avoid. Too dark. Too damaged. And given his heritage, he knows it’s best to keep everyone at arm’s length.
Isadora is missing. The words pound through his head like a frantic drumbeat. For her own protection, Demetrius did all he could to avoid the fragile princess, his soul mate. And now she’s gone—kidnapped. To get her back, he’ll have to go to the black place in his soul he’s always shunned.
As daemons ravage the human realm and his loyalty to the Guardians is put to the ultimate test, Demetrius realizes that Isadora is stronger than anyone thought. And finally letting her into his heart may be the only way to save them both.

THE DAME'S NOTE :
I'm writing only to alert you to Ms. Naughton and her books in this series.  She is a newish author to be aware of and one being recognized by Publisher's Weekly.  I think she's worth looking into since her newest book "Tempted" is now available on Amazon.com.

We're always keeping our nose to the ground for authors like Elisabeth Naughton around my blog.  What I also really like about her is that she has included a music list for her book...a list for iTunes of songs that go with "Tempted."  I tried them, and they are awesome!  Go listen...

Please see an excerpt and more about Elisabeth and the previous books in this series on her website at:  http://elisabethnaughton.com/

Gothic, Tragic, & Gorgeous~Sisters Divided... "Prophecy of Sisters" Trilogy

Posted on 04:41 by john mycal

First in the trilogy: "Prophecy of the Sisters" begins the story of two sisters who have divergent paths in their souls.  Even before birth...one wants to be born, and the other doesn't.

“This is a brooding, haunting tale of an ancient struggle between living and dead, with two sisters at its heart. It's Gothic, Edwardian, and absolutely un-put-down-able!” —Tamora Pierce, New York Times bestselling author of The Circle of Magic series.
Second book in the series:  "Guardian of the Gate"  continues the mysterious struggles of the sisters.  I haven't read this one...I'm dying to know what happens!

Just released!  "Circle of Fire"  the final book in the series of the Prophecy of the Sisters.

These gorgeous covers are amazing and the stories are beautifully written to entice and embroil you in the tightly wound spell that's entangled the sisters; one that makes them distrust eachother.  How will they save themselves and come together?

The Dame Ranks This Book:
A+  It's a series/trilogy
A+  It's about young women
A+  It's gothic
A+  It's fantasy and prophecy intense
A+  Gorgeous, collectable cover
A+  Very good reviews on all books so far

A probable good sense buy for your library.  I hope to get all three books.  I love the look of these books, even the binding cover art is beautiful.  And, I always appreciate books I can hand down to my daughter and granddaughter.  Meanwhile, the read will be awesome!

Good reading to you, as well !  Please leave us a comment if you've read any of these books...and if you have a favorite of the sisters.

Midnight in the "Twilight" Zone

Posted on 11:35 by john mycal

"What if Bella had a little sister? What if after Bella married Edward and was changed, her sister moved to Forks? In this story all of that happens. In this story there is even a love triangle for Bella’s sister Arabella. Seth Clearwater who was once a minor character now comes to the forefront. Seth begins to fall in love with Arabella and she falls for him. But, Arabella also falls in love with the Cullen's newest family member Cyrus Hale. Arabella must choose who she will love. ... "

Oh, my!  This could be a very intriguing series, couldn't it??  I'm reading this new, self-published little volume put out on BookRix which is a wonderful site for downloading such books.

One of my first YA novels reviewed on this site, I hope to return to you with a review that will at least put a buzzzzzz in your ears!

"It started as an average day in the Cullen household but quickly turned to chaos when Alice had a sudden vision that would shake the foundations of everything Jasper had worked so hard to change. Maria is back and she's after one thing... Jasper. With no remorse for human life and no understanding of the bonds created by love, she'll destroy everything he holds dear unless he agrees to return to her once again. With nail biting twists and edge of your seat action, you won't want ..."

And, here you have another series off the same "Twilight" books.  I happen to like this, but I'm sure Stephanie Meyers must be fuming about it.  At least, I would be if it were my idea.  Can you copywrite ideas from books???  I'm not sure this is fair game....  I'm going to read them at any rate just to see how they are.

Leave me a comment and tell me what you think about this idea of splintering off of "Twilight."  :]
